My leisure time...

Throughout time man has invented different ways to keep ourselves entertain. Technology is the main invention humans have invented. Technology is something that has become so essential in our lives. People have use technology to build a variety of objects that we use daily. Technology has become beneficial and not for us. We have being able to create wonderful things that each day help to save thousands of lives. Inventions that help each day to improve our agriculture, education, housing, communication and others. But at the same time, we use technology to create objects that keep us away from our real life. The majority of these inventions are design to make us feel that our actions depend on them.

T.V. is indispensable for our daily routines. TV’s main purpose is to connect us and maintain us aware of the things that are happening around us. However, at the same time it is design to brainwash us. Making us believe that each new product is going to make our lives easier. However, they do not spend time showing what is happening to our environment in order to build a new computer or iPod. I do not spend a lot of time watching TV. I spend around 25 hours per week. However, the majority of these hours I am not fully paying attention to it.

Another way of maintaining ourselves busy is by shopping. Each season new clothing designs come out for us to buy and feel cool. Shopping is really important for us because it differentiate us from each other. We spend time shopping for different reasons. We go out shopping with our family and friends to spend some time together. But at the end it does not turn out this way because each one is concentrated on looking at each piece of fabric. Each one of us, are in our own world thinking how we would look, but we do not stop and thinking how or what happened for these cloths to be make.

We do not realize that we are destroying our environment, but that there are people who are getting hurt or exploited. The factories that have being moved to other countries looking for lower hand labor. I spend around 3 to 4 hours shopping. However, the majority of time I just go to look what is new because I never find what I am looking for.

Finally, one of the most helpful ways of communication is the Internet. The Internet has become so essential for many people, including myself. The Internet does not only serve as a way of connection around the world, but it also helps us to learn new things that we do not about our surroundings. It also benefits people with disabilities to learn. It helps programmers and designers to make their work easier and to expand it.

As a future graphic design I spend around 26 hours per week surfing the web. I spend a lot of time in the web because I am learning about new design programs. In addition, I need photographs and samples to inspire myself. But at the other hand it takes a lot of my time from doing other activities.

During my leisure time the activities that bring me joy are reading, drawing, painting, listing to music, but most of all embroidering. I enjoy all these activities because they help me relax and to keep my mind away from society.

Its only been about ten years or so when I can remember getting together with my friends at least 3 times a week. The computer or tv for that matter was not really a priority for us. We would always make plans to see each other no matter what we had going on that may have seemed more important. Not so today, I regret admitting. Unfortunately we have surrendered to the computer world of emails and web cams. Now it seems like many of us are too busy to get together like we use to. We have come to a realization and are currently working on going back to our old ways. These email and web cam relationshops will just not cut it.

Yes, we spend tremendous amounts of time shopping and using technology yet we fail to realize how these things have been made. This a consumer society ambivalent to the deteriorating Earth. But, we must understand that corporations are the driving force for this situation. Companies continue to overwork us so that we go home tired and watch TV, so that we see their commercials and spend the little money that we earn buying new stuff. At the same time, these corporations are exploiting the environment and other people, and this is the vicious cycle in which we live.

I agree that TV is an indispensable tool that is a part of our very lives today, but i disagree of its purpose. its purpose has been lost to the mindless reality tv that plagues our channels every night. What is real news now---when we noe the truth of politics is often smeared and covered up by our own people. it is a safety precaution, a matter of security...they are merely saving us from "ourselves"? it is up to the individual to really seek out the truth..but it doesn't mean that we'd like what we'd find.
Technology has been our saviour..let's hope it will not be our downfall as well.

It's scary--the main way I get to see one of my close friends these days is...we watch LOST together on Thursday night, either at his house or at ours.

So now my social time is partly spent around the TV...

I think you are right Ligia, many of us get so entertained in technology. The T.V takes away mucho of our time. Well, that used to be before, nowadyas people are more interested in being in front of a computer and getting the latest in technology. They have less time to get together with their families. Also shopping has increased among us. Since now we are so focused on working, whenver we have free time we use to to shop, shop and shop. Shopping is common among people who work a lot. They feel like shopping gets their stress from work out, but the reality is that they WORK A LOT just to SHOP A LOT. They don't realize that all the money they earn at their jobs is used to shop clothings and new technology. We don't realize this, It is as bad as we have become.

Content: The content of your page is really interesting. Your personality is reflected in this post. The posts are creatively done. They are not generic, I think that you really put effort and wrote them with you own life experiences and personal things. The ideas you present are very interesting. They are definitely interesting to read. I do really enjoy the content you have in your blog.

Format: Your blog’s format is good but I think that you have a problem with your paragraphs. It is clear once you read that you have really good ideas, but you need to separate them. It’s hard to read when you present your ideas as one big long paragraph. You should work on this. I think that it is also not interactive; you should try to include links on whatever is it you’re talking about, I like the fact that you included a picture of a cat in your blog.

Design: The design of this blog is really cool. I really enjoy watching this blog, despite the blog’s format, I think that the colors you have are really attractive to the eye. The pink color looks very nice. The text also is well combined with a softer pink color. I think that you should try to change the font of your blogs, try using other than times new roman, just so that it makes it even more interesting to read it. The size you’re currently using is fine, it is not big neither small. Your picture is also a good size. If you want to post more pictures you can do them the size you have with picture of the cat.

Number of links to class blogs: Your links are complete. I counted and you have 23 so I think you’re good in this area.

Ligia I really enjoy your page, it is very nice and the colors make it warm and it catches your attention to view it. You have really good ideas in your blogs, and you personality does come through in your blog.

I like your last post. very interesting ideas. It looks like you put effort in writing them. You also relate things back to you; you show your ideas by connecting it with your own experiences, and that works very well.

One thing i noticed is that although you do separate the paragraphs they are not spaced enough. maybe you should double space between paragraphs. Also be careful with the grammar.

Fonts work well and the theme also works; it brings out your personality. However, maybe instead of having the actual links of everybody you should just have their names appear. consider posting some more pictures.
